Yeah, well, give the Reform Party a little while in office and see how long
it is before that changes. For those who don't know (and I'm assuming
that's most of you on the list), some members of the Reform Party made the
news recently about their views on corporal punishment, which they thought
Canada should bring back. They were going to take to Singapore to observe
some people getting caned for having stolen something, I believe (which
instantly brings to mind the _This Hour Has 22 Minutes_ parody "interview"
with the three Reform members: "I like to be spanked!", "I like to spank!",
"And I like to watch!").
The only satisfying aspect of this is that I think these recurring extremist
elements within the party will pretty much guarantee the failure of Reform's
attempt to appear as a moderate party. I hope.

I do not remember what my father said; all I remember is the excitement with
which this new information entered my life. Gangsters wore hats, and drove
big cars. Gangsters had tommy guns, which they kept in violent cases.
