My logic is this: if there is a gun present, there is a chance that someone
will get shot. If there are no firearms present, no one will get shot.
I prefer the latter. *shrug* I guess it's part and parcel of the fact
that I grew up in Canada. If someone jumped on my roof, my first response
would not be to 'grab the gun'. In fact, that wouldn't be on my
'response options' list at all. If someone jumped on my roof, I'd
probably think, "Hunh, that sounded like someone jumped on my roof."
Then, I'd ignore it. If there were more sounds or evidence that there
was someone on my roof, I might get Paul to go see what was going on.
If I was alone, I'd call the cops, and they can bring their guns to the
scene.
but then, I live in a small town in which the murder rate (and I'm
not exaggerating) is one per century. *grin* I'm very fond of this
place.
The whole 'gun' 'no gun' thing is all a matter of personal opinion.
My opinion is what it is because of the culture in which I grew up.
There's no 'right' or 'wrong' here (really). I just happen to like
living in a place where firearms aren't a standard household item.
I'm not against 'firearms'. I've shot skeet and used a rifle on
numerous occassions (not hunting, just targets). I like shooting.
I'm looking forward to doing it again when the weather improves.
*shrug* Just opinions. That's all :)
