I'm curious to know (if you care to
respond) how you did come across FC and
why you chose to join this discussion
community?

Uh... It's very hard to remember how I first came across FC, but I
think I somehow was led to know that this interesting nyx.cs.du.edu
place was a free site, led by an old Unix kernel hacker. I just had to
have a look, and when I was gliding through the system on a guest
account, I came by future@nyx, as I believe the name was, and was
introduced to the list by the words of ahawks@nyx. I have no idea when
this might have been, but the mailing list was very new, I think.
Anyone else?

The reason I subscribed was that I, with such a heavy interest in both
computers, computer networks and culture, folklore et cetera, was just
dying to let it all out on you (more or less) innocent people. I
remember that I stayed in the top five on the Poster's Top Ten for,
well, two years (?). I have now survived three different FC mailing
lists, with, let's see, four or five unsubscription requests.
