As Internet users, do you feel like you fit in?
Fit in? Hell no. In fact, I don't think I ever have felt like that. I
mean, I'm way to geeky to be a punk and, I don't know, to much of a
punk rocker to fit into the hacker culture. I seem to make friends all
right on a heavy distance, where the only way of communications is by
e-mail or talk mode, but I'm lousy when it comes to flesh meetings. I
seem to scare people off... I won't even mention the phone... (Come to
think of it, it's really amazing that I have a beautiful wife and two
lovely sons given my way of communication. In fact, when Helena first
met me, she later told of me as "that crazy Zen Buddhist".)
Do you think there really IS an 'Internet Culture'.
No, I don't. I think there are A LOT of very different Internet
cultures. I'm sure as hell that I'm not a member of the same Internet
culture as most people from, say, America Online.
I, for one, do think there is such a thing, but it is a special case because
its ties to real-life culture.

Yes, I think there are several cultures allready in existence that has
been formed by computers and computer networks. I suggest Hackerdom
(compare with the word "Christendom") as the Canonical Example. Check
my small hackerdom archive for more...
