agreed!
as to rpg, i've got very limited experiences... used to play Call of
Chutulu(?) together with some friends some years back. played for a
few years actually, once or twice a month. great fun, sometimes... really
managed to developed some characters over time... ended up killing myself,
because of all the things i had learned about what's REALLY going on,
behind the thin veil we call reality.... ;-)
something i witnessed at a local rpg con some years ago: two women i know
staged the rpg competition (some sort of adapted AD&D system i guess?).
those playing were almost only young men, age 18-20, used to
the hack'n'slash style of roleplaying, AND very into the macho
role of budding maleness. the roles they were able to choose between
was either that of female inhabitants of a harem, OR eunuchs servant of the
same harem. all the males were out fighting against the christian invaders,
and an army of christian crusaders (known to be eating children
and doing even worse things to women and true believers) were approaching
the small town where the harem was situated.... so the women, together
with their eunuchs servant, were to cope with this situation as best as they
could. and the two women staging and judging the play, would not at all
tolerate out of character acting. in other words: no hack'n'slash! use
your brains only. and no "male" behavior allowed.
really great fun to watch: the game did something to the players, some of whom
reacted with frustration at being forced to step out of their usual pattern
of behavior/play, others adapted very well...
oh, but my experience of rpg's really are very limited, so i
guess i'll stop talkin about things i really don't know nothing
about.....
have a nice day :-)

hey! i'm so sorry! shit happens! don't let 'em get you! go get 'em!
and all those stupid things that we use to say when such things happen.
but i really mean it: be bitter, but don't give up! :-)
