Speaking of "Re: Apple Rant (was: Re: calling Fran !!!)", Trond Buland hath
scrawled:

well, what Deb and I ranted about is totally related to this subject -- if
it were an accepted thing that some women were just as geeky as some men,
then there wouldn't be a problem with us getting the service and attention
we deserve AND the computer industry would pay attention to us and our
suggestions about hardware, software, and games.

On the good side: (to answer Robert) the computer would be a good one if
the ones I've been in possession of (two so far) hadn't had major hardware
problems. These problems could have been caused by shipping damage. As for
software and compatibility, there are still bugs to be worked out, but for
the most part, it is (or could be) a kick-ass computer. Don't write it off
totally just cos I've had problems and absolutely HATE dealing with Apple
service people.

I suspect that part of the reason I've had problems dealing with them is
because of my gender, though I really didn't want to make that part of my
rant. But, typically, if I speak to a man, he treats me as if I know
nothing about the computer. If I speak to a woman, it inevitably becomes
obvious that I know more about it than she does.

sigh. Yes, it makes me angry...

PS to JP: do you know how long it takes to download that system update?????
it took spud 9 hours. _nine_. The first time, his connection dropped after
8.5 hours. frustrating! Me, I still haven't managed to connect yet...
