Yes .. my point was, have you noticed that mac servers are in fact very
popular? Even in SPITE of everything you note. Even though they're NOT
the best or most logical choice. But, as I said ..

.. I am making an analogy as to why director will be popular on the web.

Quite so ... but nevertheless they are vastly popular on the web. #2 after
unix. (Just visit say yahoo for a pie chart) - and that's my point, see?
"Similarly, even though it's perhaops slightly irrational, director will be
popular on the web"

Again, that was purely an analogy, Taylor, to our discussion about
macromedia - you know ?

Well I disagree .. I can literally think of at least, oh, say, 7 people I
know who are totally designers, who can pull off Lingo quite well. But
you're the only person I know in the latter category above, (or myownself a
little bit, but my mind's shot from all the drugs. <; )

In general I would say your complaints and points about director et al are
valid and interesting but perhaps a little extreme. For example, sure
macromedia is a bit of an overkill to make up "web-gui-like-things", but,
it's not so much of an overkill that it's a no starter .. and so on.

Anyway I certainly appreciate the viewpoint, that's for sure.

It's pretty funny we're having this discussion .. 30 - 40% of web hits are
still the 'AOL' browser!! (However there is a rumor they're going over to
netscrape, which would be cool.)

{Incidentally a small point about mac servers, the new coming-soon versions
of open transport are vastly faster, multi home etc etc - maybe they'll get
even more popular!)
