Here's what happened (abbreviated version):
As many of you know, my political beliefs are somewhat extreme.
I posted some of these beliefs to a list where a lot of people hang
out who have similar beliefs, or so their FAQ says (they're mostly
just a group of liberal academics, not that there's anything *wrong*
with that, ;-) but anyway...)
So, this person, a lurker to the list I guess (since I've never known them to
post in the short time I've been subbed), starts posting me offlist trying to
engage me in discussion of how cool it is to arm oneself for the
coming Rev*lution, putting words in my mouth re: rev*lutionary fervor
or lack thereof in the mainstream US Left, and so on.
When I replied that I liked the 'net precisely because *ideas * are
the coolest weapons and in any case the conditions for revolution
are wrong in the US right now, that I used guns as a kid in a
rural area but no longer own one, etc., the person dropped communication
like a hot potato.
Then, I read the story about the new federal anti-terrorist
"cyberteam" patrolling the 'net.
Kook? Last recruiter for the Weather Undergr#und? FB! entrapment
specialist? I don't know. Maybe I'm being paranoid, or I've just
been watching the X-Files too much. I'll probably never know.
Just to let *you* know,
Tony Jones
