Well...yes...hm. Couple of problems with this:
1. my place of employ (at which I function as Head Webspinner/HTML
expert/general "how do I do this?" girl) we use IBM exclusively. Laptop
U (my school, aka "Acadia") has an "IBM guy" on staff...all the laptops
and multimedia development machines are IBM. I gotta have a compatible
machine.
2. I just can't afford a new computer. I thought I could. I can't.
So, I'll be upgrading my IBM clone 'cuz it's cheaper. Way.
3. I've been using IBM stuff for..er..9.5 years (or so) now. I started
on a Commodore, I moved to a 286sx16 the year they came out. My computer
still has the same floppy drive and monitor from that original. I'm not
an old dog or anything, but new tricks will decrease my productivity more
than I can afford right now (we've got 3 months to develop a full campus-
wide multimedia learning environment and webserver/site...and there are
only a handful of us working on it...argh.)
Someday, when I've got lotsa money, maybe I'll convert to Mac. Unlikely,
though, considering the complaints I've heard about Apple and their
company's stability. I don't wanna go through what the poor ol' Amiga
contingent did...
I'm just hoping that Microsoft falls on hard times...thought that's about
as likely as Acadia suddenly changing to a Mac-only platform...(it'll
never happen unless IBM dies...)
*babble*
