. I work for ICL , a multinational - we have a very well established=20
Intranet , and netnews style conferencing systems , everyone in the company=

desktop system , which is e-mail - telnet - word proc, spreadsheet ...etc=

- (MS Office's prototype actually!) . Add to that a proliferation of Web=20
Servers and an internal phone system , which allows remote offices=20
worldwide to be on the same network as someone on the next floor to me.=20
e-mail is the chosen way of passing ideas , and often a fix can be found=20
in mins by using the conferencing system , to cure a s/ware or h/ware glitc=

All enabled by a proprietary of the shelf system .

I hope you mean casualty ! As regards causuality , MS has a perfect=20
system for adapting to the Intranet culture- a well known I/F the basic=20
MS gui is readily identified , boring though it is and huge amounts of=20
'puter users want the familiar as we all too well know.
The worry is that the big players in this market - MS Claris and Lotus=20
will stifle the opposition and horor of horrors expand past the fire walls=

into the real 'Net. Internet Expoliter and Netscrape , are getting chased=

by Cyberdog , Mosaic still doesnt cut it for me ! The latest Beta takes=20
at least a year to load if you have more than 5 fonts , and then crashes.Bu=

it is still a BIG 3 situation , a bit like if you want a=20
Word proc doc - it is usually in MS Word or Wordperfect - and look how=20
many Word proc applications there used to be !
Gates and co are out to take the 'Net as a means of completing their=20
affirmations , sad bastards that they are , incomplete as well rounded=20
and happy clappers , without a MONEY motive to fill their day and ruin ours=
!
