Heh. If only that were true. However most of the editors of the great
media conglomerate can barely opperate their Duo Dock, much less experiment
with automatic text editing.

[snip YAARBE, Yet Another Apple Rant By Evan]

There is nothing like a former Apple lover scorned (why don't you have
similar venom for Commadore?) Unfortuneatly I'm one of them two. They've
slapped me down one too many times. This has become especially pronounced
since I've been off working on other operating systems. I've said this
many times in the past, and it's really rather flip, but taylor.org was
put together by me, under the influence of a major flu, not knowing what I
was doing, running an OS constructed by hobbiest and hackers on their spare
time, compiled by me, again NOT REALLY KNOWING WHAT I WAS DOING. The Macs
that I use were constructed and assembled to exacting specifications,
running an OS compiled and constructed by some of the most innovative and
creative minds in the business. Kid-linear stays up for months on end, I'm
barely annoyed if my mac only crashes three times a day.

This is inexcuseable. Apple has charged a premium for their hardware, and
for their OS. Charging that much entitiles them to certian
responsibilities. Ensureing that their OS stays beyond the competition in
ease of use and robustness. Making sure that developers have the machines
and the desire to release software for the platform, and that it released
on time compared to the other competing platforms. And, most importantly,
making sure that their customer's loyalty remain firm, fixing problems
proactivly, and in general making sure that the folx who actually plunked
down a good chunk of their money to buy that hunk of plastic and silicon
are kept in a furvent religious state.

Apple instead has been doing all it can to make former zelots drool with
envy over other platforms. Power users move on to UNIX, or drool with
anticipation over the BeBox, and more casual users pick up a windows
box. How many new products are released for windows only? How many
companies STOP supporting the Mac? Apple is squarely to blame for all of
this.

I'm waiting to get me a BeBox. I'm hoping they follow through with their
goal of making a powerhouse multimedia production machine, and can convince
developers to support it. Linux is great, but I have yet to find a decent
graphics, or multimedia suite for it. And pushing pixles is all the macs
seem to be good for these days. When I move on at the end of the month,
I'm thinking of requesting me a Windows machine. I never thought I'd EVER
say that.
