Just wandered back down the High Street , belly full of Winter Ale , head and
heart full of , hmmm , head and heart full of ; joy ; fellowship ; wonder ;
Chrismas Spirit ?
A very good friends sister had been rushed into hospital the previous day
with a brain haemorrage , and had come out of the coma , this afternooon ,
another friends son had been released from hospital after recovering from a
mystery virus . Laughter and good feelings circulated around The Cock , like
a magical mist , people from several countries ,all together , a log fire ,
Holly and Ivy , mistletoe suspended from the walls and ceiling , a short walk
home through drizzle and damp , walking past windows lit by their trees ,
glowing with warmth from the total experience , the only sad point being that
the rest of my family will be 200 miles away on Monday .
Tomorrow going to collect the makings of the feast , Sunday preparations ,
and hopefully another chance to gather with friends , and possibly for this
Ole Pagan , a trip to the Midnight Candlelight Mass , at the village church .
Drunken carol singers , and those who are there to affirm their faith , in
their belief .
My SO , Judy being the latter , we approach this time with different views ,
I glory in the turning of the Natural Year , a Festival of Light in the
darkness of Winter , a chance to re-affirm bonds , remember absent family and
friends and prepare for the coming of the next year , but as I usually
Wassail a bit too much , the last bit is often forgotten ! Judy , sees it as
a spiritual time , an occasion she can use to re-establish her own sense of
place in the spiritual world , an earth angel reporting in , though she would
never see it that way . I feel I should go , as judy is not a great drinker ,
but I lurve my beer , in moderation . :-)
Basically all I am trying to say , is a this time of the year I hope you all
can celebrate it the way you wish , with the people you wish to share it with
, and that you all have a very Merry Chrismas / substitute the holiday which
your faith celebrates here
Wishing we could gather to raise a glass and eat , but heres a virtual toast
to us all ,
Slainte ,
Graz
p.s it was a shot of a 12 year old single Malt , for the interested !
