yeah, Joe Hill was born in Sweden, and Emma Goldman was born in
Russia ;-) so maybe all my examples of great american anarchists
was just a little bit, what should we say, less than perfect?
but after all, everything (white) american tends to come from europe,
if you look just some decades back.....

i think you will find that quite a lot of the discussion on this list
is about the past, and the present. some times in order to cope with
the future, other times just because that's what the members are
interested in... you see, and as you'll very soon discover for
yourself if you stay for some time, this list has in some ways moved a
little bit away from it's original object or purpose, at least in any
strict definition of such a purpose. (just go have a look at the
archives) but still we do consentrate on the future of culture, or
the culture of the future, or maybe just on culture... or the
future.... or something... and to do that, some of us find it
necessary to talk quite a lot about the present and the past: the
future is the child of the present, and of the past. (and maybe there
ain't no linearity to time after all? ;-))

Future Culture is about what the members want to talk about?!

and i guess you shouldn't just wait for an interesting discussion to
come along. start one instead! just go ahead, find something you find
intersting, and that you feel s h o u l d interest a list named FC,
and make a go for it! :-) (and don't quit just because (as may
happen) nobody joins you at your first try)

welcome to Future Culture btw!

have a nice day :-)
