That last mail re: not being able to read all the books really strikes
a chord for me.

It is not possible to read all the books, learn all the instruments,
master all the games, see all the places, taste everything, sleep with
everyone etc, or as deb pointed out, even conquer that subset of 'the best'.

this drove me absolutely nuts for several months.

what it comes down to is desire. what to desire ? what to want ? how to
spend this limited time frame ?

First, death must be accepted as a reality, without the pathetic lie
that is faith to shield the mind from the destruction. A pox on these
christians and others who would grant a lazy escape from death with
their afterlife. Snivelling cowards, all.

next, desire. a choice must be made as to how to spend this existence,
and it must be spent hard for it is followed by oblivion. I am pleased
with my own choices. I asked myself "What is good in life" mixed with
"what is attainable" and answered these questions.

Acceptance of death and Knowledge of desire have made me a force to be
reckoned with.
