YEAH! sometimes while reading Banks i literally have to take a break
just to wipe my sweath and slow things down. parts of his novels are
written in a tempo so fast that i catch myself thinking "stop it! let
me rest! not ONE MORE PAGE OF THIS! please!" but of course i just
h a v e to go on reading until the stream of narrative somehowe
slows down.... for one thing, he's the best writer of high-speed
action i know of at the moment (and if that was the only thing he
was, he wouldn't be the superb sf writer he is.)

and i guess this thread has conviced me (if i needed that) that i
should start reading more of Iain Banks novels!
