This can be exactly what can make something that can be evil, like netscape
may one day turn out to be. This is exactly what will make Win95 so popular.
People will ignore compleatly what the companies behind the products are doing.
This is one of the fundmental wrongs in our society. People dont care about
anything but having fun, or making money. They often fall from these goals
even if they care about making the best possible things they can make.
The NCSA people who came up with netscpe did, by they are gonna move on
to other things, just like Taylor said. People can also cahnge when they
make the big money. Fran obviously cares deeply about making the best web page
possible. However, her comments on just caring about what x product can or cant
do for her means to me that she dosnet think too much about those practices
mentioned above. Or what they mean to the society at large. I know it is hard
to do such thing when x product does most things you need, it is easy to just
use that and do your best. Just as long as you have fun doing it. Have you
stoppped to consider that maybe there is something else that can be done
that will better do what you want? Maybe there is but no company can make
money on it or noone knows about it or how to do it? I can envison a
idea repository where if you think of something that you want to do and
there is no ware out there that does it; you can put the idea in the
repository and someone somewhere can eventually do them.
If you put an idea into the repository you have the right to use software
made by it. Maybe the sale of them at sharware prices to those who are not
a part of the exchange can help finacne the big projects.
This is the type of thing I hope one day will be possible and commonplace.
Come to think of it Java and that idea makes this very possible.
Anyone out there wanna help work on this one?
Thinking on possiblites,
