Seems we have a parallel thread going on the leri list and the
futureculture list, so this is going out to both of them! & why not send
it over to the Otis list, too, since it's bound to crop up there again
pretty soon?

Welly welly welly - I will compute some prices... how about a matrix?
(Number of shirts) by (number of colors)
I doubt we will get to the 144 shirts point, so here it is for the
less-than-a-gross quantity: [gross = 144, don't you love the old english
system?] The printer thinks in units of 12 (the old "dozen", yes, we
still use that system in the US), so here are units of 1 to 4 dozen shirts.
Let's assume white shirts at us$2.35 each, us$25 per screen color (screen
charges for making the screens), and us$1.00 for the first color and
us$.75 for each additional color.
Shirt cost = 2.35
Screen cost = 25.00
First color = 1.00
Next colors = 0.75
# of colors -> 1 2 3 4
Screen cost = 25.00 50.00 75.00 100.00
Color cost = 1.00 1.75 2.50 3.25
Color & screen= 26.00 51.75 77.50 103.25
# of shirts
24 82.40 108.15 133.90 159.65
36 110.60 136.35 162.10 187.85
48 138.80 164.55 190.30 216.05
60 167.00 192.75 218.50 244.25
Cost per shirt...
# of colors -> 1 2 3 4
# of shirts
24 3.43 4.51 5.58 6.65
36 3.07 3.79 4.50 5.22
48 2.89 3.43 3.96 4.50
60 2.78 3.21 3.64 4.07
The bottom table is the total cost (ie: us$167, for 1 color on 60 shirts)
divided by the number of shirts printed (ie: 60, = us$2.78 per shirt).
This is not what the company I work with charges for printing shirts,
this is the bottom line that the company is charged for printing, and
that is "my price" & so it's "your price" since you are my friends =)
Shipping out the finished shirts is going to cost a max of us$3.00 each
package, probably less, I can figure that out next...
We are all set up for printing and shipping, so this is pretty easy for
me to do. The harder part is deciding on a design we all like and
getting the camera-ready art to me here (over the net is fine, and do-able).
& if these prices make you think about going into the t-shirt business we
can figure that out, too =)
If you want the tables run out for more colors and more shirts, let me know.
me.
