These are the costs for me, as a shirt-printer, with no markups:

Shirts:

Delta T's (a manufacturer) at $2.35 each - white shirts, 100% cotton

50/50 polyester is a little cheaper = less $.25 each

add $.25 for colored shirts

Setup:

$25 per screen, if the artwork is ready to go (camera-ready) - we do the
separations ourselves and provide the printer with paper originals. For
screen printing the colors must be trapped (outlined) a certain amount to
allow for registration errors in the printing. 1/32" should be
sufficient, and we need to do that ourselves.

Printing:

up to 144 pcs, = $1 first color & .75 ea additional color

over 144pcs, = .75 first& .50 ea add.

pocket-sized image = .75 &.50 no breaks for quantity.

We do have special color-change inks that can be printed on the shirts
(that's what the company I work with specializes in) that add about .25
to .50 per shirt depending on the printed area (basically the ink costs
about $50/quart and covers at least 100 square feet [30 sq. meters or so].

This ink changes colors with changes in temperature, with the colorchange
ink turning clear as it warms up. This makes it possible to make hidden
messages that appear (or dissapear) and also make one color change to
another, as in a green turn to a blue or a yellow (depending which color
was colorchange to begin with).

I can explain more about the colorchange inks if anyone is interested,
this note is about t-shirt prices =)

me.
