As I recall from my ling 250 course, esperanto is incredibly efficient in
its use of affixes-- I forget the numbers, just that it's almost perfect,
which is pretty good for a young guy from poland who decided to end all wars.

The idea was to have a quickly-learnable language for diplomacy. It's
very much romance-language like, tho', esp. in vocab. I guess land wars
n; asia didn't occur to him.
