Very true, and the things you mention would go a long way towards
accomplishing that...

In a sense, Hypermail already accomplishes that. If it comes across a URL
in a message, it will turn that URL into a link. So if somebody does want
to refer to some external document, just including the URL in their message
will get the link made. If we just stick with that (at least as far as the
posts go), we don't have to necessarily worry about making sure it's
relevant to the list, as it won't be taking up any disk space or anything.
The problem with relying on this, though, is that the hypermailed archives
aren't the most easily searchable.

As far as the other ideas go, they sound great to me, although they're
definitely beyond my current capabilities. I still think, though, that when
possible we should try to keep just links on the "main page," or whatever we
decide to label it. Particular documents which might be of special
importance to the group (like this bubble manifesto everybody keeps
mentioning) should be added in their entirety, however.

I'll leave that to others, as I'm personally quite artistically challenged.
