Presently, you can ftp chapters 1-6, including the background note that was included in the first chapter from : phred.pc.cc.cmu.edu. Log in as anonymous and go to the directory : /pub/text/CoolDarkness. Everything is compressed, so it shouldn't take very long to download all the chapters. On the note of when is the next chapter coming out, well, I have some problems with that right now. Chapters 7&8 have already been written and should have been able to be posted quite awhile ago. The problem is is that my floppy drive is dead and I can't upload due to the program I am using. Something about the locking-shift with kermit is screwing me up with the upload. Gotta love computers. In any case, I will probably be forced to get a new floppy drive within the next week, so as soon as I can actually get those *&%!!!*$ chapters off my comp, I'll post them. Chapter 9 is almost finished as well, so the story is almost done. One last note, I'm still looking for a new theme/plot to write about this semester. I haven't gotten any requests as to what people would like to read, however, I don't know what I want to write about. So if you have any ideas, complaints, groans, moans, pats on the back, questions, requests or any other noun that I've missed, please contact me and I'll get back with ya'! I'm also presently working on a graphic for Cool Darkness that would kinda be like a book cover if it were ever to get published. If you would like me to post that as well (standard 24-bit formats) please let me know. Lord help me if I were to post it and piss someone off by killing bandwidth :-) Moral of the story : as soon as my &%^^$!#@#!*@&^ computer is working again, you'll see a lot of chapters coming your way! -Matt +----------------------------------+-----------------------------------------+ |Matthew Carpenter | | |Junior, Electrical Engineering | And God said "Let there be light." | |Purdue University | | |Cary Quadrangle NE 205 | And the fuse blew.......... | |(317) 495 - 2209 | | |mcarpent@en.ecn.purdue.edu | | +----------------------------------+-----------------------------------------+ ______________________________ Date: Sat, 23 Jan 1993 19:03:28 -0500 From: Elizabeth Schwartz Subject: VIRTUAL CULTURE survey question Rez I am getting all of your posts THREE TIMES. I realize that this is because I am subscribed to future-culture, future-tech, and leri-l. The way you are sending the message is a problem, because subscribers to future-tech will receive responses from leri and future-culture subscribers who just respond to the entire header. If you are going to cross-pollinate lists, please send separate messages. I don't at the moment have the ability to "filter" the future-tech list, but I would prefer that only subscribers post (also the free-form leri-family chat doesn't really belong here) I am responding with a CC to all the lists, so that people will be aware of their own CC lines when they respond to these messages. Please send comments to me personally, not to the lists. thanks, Betsy Should we talk about the weather? Should we talk about the government? -- R. E.
