Well, they would, if it had ears... citrus!vector! (which is a name so good i want to call my first kid that!) says that "information is a quantitative which is posessed" rather than a subject. Which is strictly speaking correct. But it is a lot more *interesting* to think of it as a subject, perhaps one with a trajectory and goals. "Information wants to be free" is both an ethical statement and an historicist one about the trajectory of history. Its a speculative idea which is also a slogan. It is "workers of the world unite, you have nothing to loose but your chains" updated for a pomo world. "Let the dead bury the dead and mourn them. Our kind will be the first to blaze a trail into the new life." ______________________________ Subject: !mindgun Date: Thu, 25 Feb 93 22:08:11 EST From: Mitchell Porter has anynoe on FC ever heard of a small distribution e-zine called !mindgun? i have a snali-mail address but i am wondering about the e-address.. i havent checked the fc faq yet.. ______________________________ From: ahawks (albert hofmann) Subject: Re: e-poem Date: Thu, 25 Feb 93 21:04:27 MST Welcome to the Beautiful World of tomg@image.com: | |May I include your version, too? of course... the next step is to create a program to count all the letters used, match random words made from those letters against a dictionary of "information" words (and basics of human speech like 'the', 'a') and have successful outcomes be auto-appended to the hypertext.... -- andy ______________________________ From: ahawks (albert hofmann) Subject: Re: cyber elitism Date: Thu, 25 Feb 93 21:15:02 MST Welcome to the Beautiful World of StevenJ: | |Does that make any sense?
