Date: Sun, 21 Feb 93 23:33:35 CST I was flipping through the I HATE BRENDA newsletter zine, which is a total drag through the mud treatment of Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills 90210) and am just totally inspired. I Hate Brenda is put on by the people who do Ben Is Dead, so you know it's going to be good, and has plenty of "back-stage antics". Many of which involve excessive alcohol consumption and arbitrary displays of personal power. (ok, ego-tripping). So I'm thinking, wow, and then it comes to me. Coming soon, the I HATE CAMILLE (paglia) newsletter. Send me dirt ______________________________ From: CA7471@acspr1.acs.brockport.edu Date: 22 Feb 93 10:52:44 EDT > Hi. I do a lot of original t-file work from that computer (for > cDc communications). Is that an issue? No idea there. Officially, the 1st amendment _should_ apply equally, no matter if you're a publisher or not. Unoficially, however... (Usual sig deleted so you won't be associated with shady types like me.) Kevin: 1) I would cooperate, not doing so is likely to make them nervous and is more likely to result in a 'Steve Jackson'. Let them have a wander round the BBs. Be friendly, explain how it all works. Try and find common ground, kiddie porn for instance. It doesn't sound like they exepect to find anything apart from seeing who logs onto your and when. If they did they wouldn't have given you any warning. They may have the password. I would give them full acess and pint out that your are nervouse of having all your kit seized unessaerily, you're therefore happy to gice them acess to evrything without them having to resort to that. 2) If you can't afford a lawer I would try and find somebody who could act as a good impartial witness (an ex-schoolteacher, accademic, doctor etc) that could be pressent -if they allow, If they won't ask why. Make sure both of you write down what happens afterwards. Good luck, let us know what happens. ______________________________ From: ahawks (andy) Subject: Weekly FC Administrivia Date: Mon, 22 Feb 93 10:00:09 MST ______________________________________________________________________ |______________ / | | / | | u t u r e <___________ u l t u r e | _______________________________________________________________________| ________________________________________________________________________________ Vital ListStats as of February 22nd 1993: Realtime: 240 Digest : 306 FAQ-Only: 200 ::::::::: Total : 746 Current Digest is Issue #248. ________________________________________________________________________________ To post to the FutureCulture list, send your message to: future@nyx.cs.du.edu ALL Requests to FutureCulture must be sent to: future-request@nyx.cs.du.edu [All request messages should garner an auto-reply msg. ] [If future-request does not *consistently* work for you ] [then please send your message to: ahawks@nyx.cs.du.edu] The subject of request mail must have one of the following: subscribe realtime -subscribe in realtime (reflector) format subscribe digest -subscribe in daily-digest (1 msg / day format) subscribe faq -subscribe to faq only (1 msg every few months) unsubscribe realtime unsubscribe digest unsubscribe faq help -receive a help file send info -receive this file send faq -receive a recent copy of the faq if you need one (list subscribers *automatically* receive this) send list -list of commands the mailserver recognizes send -receive from the mailserver * When unsubscribing, you must unsubscribe from the same address you subscribed from. Has anyone browsed through the K12 newsgroups on Usenet? I did so for the first time last night...and lo! Posts from "3rd grade sysops", more requests for penpals than you ever could imagine.. And muchmcuh more wierdness..._very young_ wierdness...As far as I have been able to discern, suddenly a large amount of BBS's linked to Usenet via fidonet are being used by elementary/middle/ high schools...Does anyone have any more concrete information as to what's up here? I will be very interested to see what these kids turn out like in a few years. ..And since this is FC, I ask: is this representative of a system that all pre-college schools might be linked to in the [not far-]future? -z zamboni@ap.cl.msu.edu ______________________________ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 93 13:02:03 EST From: zamboni@ap.cl.msu.edu (happy zamboni) Subject: Arizona Just a quick question- I will be in Tucson Arizona all of next week, and am unfamiliar with that area of the country.
